Alex Albon received a driving reprimand from the FIA for an unsafe practice start procedure in China. The stewards found he breached the rules by starting while another car was stationary but considered the unprecedented complexity of the new 2026 car start sequences in their decision.
Williams driver Alex Albon has been handed a formal reprimand by the FIA stewards for performing a practice start while another car was stationary ahead of him on the grid during first practice at the Chinese Grand Prix. The stewards accepted his explanation that the complex start procedures for F1's new 2026 cars were a mitigating factor in the breach.
