Juncadella Reacts to P4 in Nürburgring 24h Qualifying: 'A Great Starting Position'

Dani Juncadella, Max Verstappen's teammate in the 24h Nürburgring, expressed satisfaction with P4 in qualifying, citing strong car performance and a solid starting spot for the endurance race.

Max Verstappen's teammate Dani Juncadella secured fourth place in qualifying for the 24 Hours of Nürburgring and called it a positive result. Driving the Winward Racing Mercedes-AMG GT3, the Spaniard posted an 8:12.005 lap in Top Qualifying 3, just 0.8s off pole.

Why it matters:

Starting inside the top five is critical for a 24-hour race where track position and traffic management can shape the outcome. Juncadella's performance continues a strong showing for the #130 car, which also saw Verstappen advance through earlier qualifying sessions.

The details:

  • Juncadella took over for Top Qualifying 3 after Lucas Auer and Verstappen handled TQ1 and TQ2.
  • His first run placed him ninth, 6.8s behind the leader, but a second attempt on lighter fuel lifted him to provisional second before settling at P4.
  • Pole went to Luca Engstler in the #84 Red Bull Team ABT Lamborghini.
  • Juncadella noted changing conditions: "It was very slippery in the beginning from the rain, but on the last lap it was fully dry."
  • Verstappen earlier secured P6 in TQ2, expressing satisfaction with his feel for the car in wet conditions Thursday night.

What's next:

The 24h Nürburgring race gets underway Sunday. Juncadella and his teammates will aim to convert their strong qualifying pace into a top result over the full distance.
