Lawson Blames Gearbox Failure for Miami Crash with Gasly

Liam Lawson's race in Miami ended dramatically after a gearbox failure caused him to crash into Pierre Gasly, sending the Alpine into a barrel roll. Lawson explained the mechanical issue left him with no gears or braking ability, ruining a promising start for both drivers in the midfield battle.

RB driver Liam Lawson retired from the Miami Grand Prix after a heavy collision with Pierre Gasly, which he attributes to a sudden gearbox failure that left him with no engine braking and unable to stop his car. The incident, which sent Gasly’s Alpine into a barrel roll at Turn 17, brought out the Safety Car and eliminated both drivers from a race where Lawson had shown strong early pace.
