Toto Wolff warns FIA over new engine development rule
Toto Wolff urges the FIA to apply its new engine catch-up rules with precision, warning they must not allow a rival to jump ahead of Mercedes. He acknowledges only Honda clearly needs help, questioning other teams' requests as the competitive order is established.
Mercedes team principal Toto Wolff has called on the FIA to ensure its new engine development assistance system is not used to leapfrog to the front of the grid, as rivals lobby for performance upgrades. The warning comes amid reports that Ferrari is among the teams seeking permission for extra development under the new ADUO regulations.
