Bearman crashes in Monaco FP3 after losing car on Casino Square bump
Oliver Bearman brought out the red flag in Monacos final practice after crashing heavily at Casino Square The incident destroyed the rear wing of his Haas and left the team facing a major repair job before qualifying
Haas driver Oliver Bearman crashed out of final practice for the Monaco Grand Prix after losing control on the bump approaching Casino Square The crash led to a red flag with less than 14 minutes left in FP3 and forced an extended delay as the FIA inspected damaged guardrails leaving his team with a monumental repair job ahead of qualifying
Why it matters:
At Monaco qualifying is everything and a heavy crash just hours before the session that shapes the entire weekend puts Haas in a precarious position The team must now undertake extensive repairs while ensuring Bearman retains the confidence to push right up against the barriers knowing that any deficit in grid position is almost impossible to recover on race day
The details:
- Bearman went slightly wide on the run-up to Casino Square before the rear of his car bottomed out on the bump and caught the barriers I totally lost it on the bump he told his team over the radio
- The crash caused significant rear-end damage completely removing the rear wing and leaving debris across the track that forced an immediate red flag
- At the time of the stoppage Mercedes championship leader Kimi Antonelli held the fastest time followed by Ferrari duo Charles Leclerc and Lewis Hamilton Bearman had been running in 13th
- The FIA confirmed that repair delays were caused by on-site guardrail damage inspection conducted by the Race Director
- Bearman currently sits ninth in the drivers standings with 18 points
Whats next:
Haas faces a race against time to prepare Bearmans car for Saturdays qualifying session at 4pm local time With overtaking nearly impossible around the Monte Carlo streets any compromise in car balance or missed track time could bury the British driver in a low grid slot and undo his weekend before the lights even go out on Sunday
