Grosjean and Magnussen retained by Haas for 2020 F1 season

Haas has retained Romain Grosjean and Kevin Magnussen for the 2020 Formula 1 season, keeping the same driver lineup for a third straight year. Team principal Guenther Steiner cited the value of stability as the American outfit prepares for major regulation changes in 2021. The decision comes despite a difficult 2019 season in which Haas has struggled for consistency with its VF-19 car.

Rich Energy Haas F1 Team has confirmed that Romain Grosjean and Kevin Magnussen will continue to form its driver line-up for the 2020 FIA Formula 1 World Championship. The announcement, made ahead of the Japanese Grand Prix, secures an unchanged pairing for a third consecutive season as the American-owned squad prepares for a significant rules reset in 2021. Team principal Guenther Steiner said the decision reflects stability and continuity during a period of technical transition. Grosjean has raced for Haas since its debut in 2016, while Magnussen joined the team in 2017. Both drivers have been retained despite a challenging 2019 campaign in which the team has struggled to replicate the competitive form of its first three seasons. Haas is currently eighth in the constructors' standings, with its VF-19 package proving inconsistent across varying circuit characteristics. The team hopes an unchanged driver pairing will help it maximize development of its 2020 car while shifting resources early toward the major regulation changes scheduled for 2021.
