Hadjar's Heavy Crash Triggers Red Flag in Monaco GP FP1

Isack Hadjar slammed into the barriers at the Swimming Pool section, forcing a red flag in FP1 of the Monaco Grand Prix. The session is halted while repairs are made.

Isack Hadjar brought out the red flags during FP1 for the Monaco Grand Prix after crashing heavily into the barriers at the exit of the Swimming Pool section. The Red Bull driver lost control and hit the wall with significant force, prompting race control to stop the session with just under half the hour remaining.

Why it matters:

Monaco's tight streets leave no margin for error, and any barrier repair can cost teams precious track time. For Hadjar, a rookie still building confidence, such a high-impact shunt early in a weekend at the most demanding circuit on the calendar is a major setback.

The details:

  • Incident: Hadjar lost the rear on exit of the Swimming Pool right-left complex, slewing sideways into the barriers on the inside of the final left-hander before the tunnel.
  • Impact: Heavy, but the driver was reported okay. The car suffered substantial damage to the rear and side.
  • Response: Red flag shown immediately. Marshals recovered the RB and began repairing the damaged concrete wall.
  • Time: With less than 15 minutes on the clock, the session is unlikely to resume for meaningful running.

What's next:

Hadjar's crew faces a long repair job ahead of FP2. The incident also robs other drivers of a chance to fine-tune setups on a track where track position is critical. Drivers will now rely on historical data and simulator work for the rest of the day.
