F1 and Hasbro Launch Special Edition of Monopoly

Formula 1 partners with Hasbro to create a Monopoly Formula 1 Edition, replacing classic streets with Grand Prix circuits and introducing race-themed gameplay for fans of all ages.

Formula 1 has announced an official partnership with global toy and game manufacturer Hasbro to launch Monopoly Formula 1 Edition, a reimagined version of the classic board game set in the world of Grand Prix racing. The game swaps property trading for championship points, circuit locations, and pit-lane strategy, aiming to bring the sport’s adrenaline to game night.

Why it matters:

This collaboration strengthens F1’s push into mainstream entertainment beyond racing, tapping into the massive board-game market. With both properties boasting loyal global audiences, the edition could serve as a gateway for new fans to engage with Formula 1, while offering existing enthusiasts another way to connect with the sport.

The details:

  • Gameplay changes: Instead of collecting streets, players race around a board featuring every circuit on the F1 calendar, earning championship points and wins as the season progresses.
  • Helmet tokens: Players choose their favorite F1 team and use helmet-shaped tokens to navigate the board’s central track, competing for the “Monopoly GRAND PRIX” instead of collecting $200 when passing GO.
  • Release information: The game is available globally for pre-order now and will officially launch on July 15, 2026.
  • Official quotes: F1’s chief commercial officer Emily Prazer described the edition as capturing “the excitement and competitiveness of the sport in a fun, accessible way.” Hasbro’s president of toys and games Billy Lagor highlighted the blend of “roaring engines, pit lane drama, and split-second strategy” into a game night experience.

What’s next:

With pre-orders already open, the Monopoly Formula 1 Edition is set to hit shelves in mid-July. Early demand will likely gauge how well the crossover resonates, but both sides are optimistic that the authentic integration of F1 elements will attract a wide audience. If successful, this could lead to further licensed F1 board games or expansions within the Monopoly franchise.
