Racing Bulls key signing set for debut as fresh F1 challenge revealed

Dan Fallows makes his Racing Bulls trackside debut at the Canadian GP. The team faces a unique challenge with 2026 active aero modes and brings upgrades aiming for points.

Dan Fallows, Racing Bulls' new technical director, will be trackside for the first time at this weekend's Canadian Grand Prix, marking his debut since joining the team in April 2026. Fallows, formerly at Aston Martin and Red Bull, now reports to chief technical officer Tim Goss as the Faenza-based team looks to push into the points with a new aerodynamic upgrade.

Why it matters:

Fallows' arrival at Racing Bulls brings a wealth of experience from title-winning teams, having worked with Adrian Newey at Red Bull. His integration with Goss, a veteran from McLaren, could accelerate the team's progress up the midfield order. The Canadian GP will be an early test of their new working relationship under race conditions.

The details:

  • Fallows joined Racing Bulls in January 2026, replacing Jody Egginton who moved to Red Bull Advanced Technologies. He left Aston Martin in April 2025 after being removed as technical director due to poor performance of the AMR24.
  • The Circuit Gilles Villeneuve traditionally demands low-downforce setups, but 2026 regulations change the paradigm. Goss explained: "Straight Mode active aero drops drag significantly, so we retain standard rear wing. But complexities of matching chassis and power unit settings with different circuit characteristics remain."
  • Racing Bulls have completed simulator sessions and data analysis since the Miami Grand Prix. They bring the next phase of aerodynamic upgrades to Montreal, confident they will be firmly in the mix for points.

What's next:

With Fallows now embedded trackside, expect closer collaboration between engineering and race operations. The Canadian GP will reveal whether Racing Bulls can build on their recent form and challenge for a top-ten finish, as the team aims to establish itself as a consistent midfield contender.
