Racing Bulls to debut Miami upgrades as midfield battle intensifies

Racing Bulls will debut upgrades at the Miami GP, moving parts planned for Bahrain and Montreal. Alan Permane says the five‑week break lets the team test more components and push up the midfield.

Racing Bulls will unveil new parts at the Miami GP, the first of a development plan that also covers upgrades originally slated for Bahrain and Montreal. Alan Permane says the five‑week break created by the cancelled Bahrain and Saudi races gave the team extra time to bring forward chassis work and increase the number of upgrade sets for Miami. The aim is to climb the midfield ladder currently occupied by Alpine, Haas and Audi.

Why it matters:

  • Higher midfield placement means more points and stronger sponsor appeal.
  • Upgrades give rookie Arvid Lindblad and Liam Lawson a chance to fight consistently in the points.

The details:

  • The Bahrain‑planned aero package arrives in Miami with multiple sets, allowing the team to test it extensively before the Montreal floor tweak follows as a “double‑hit”.
  • A freight delay has freed up chassis time, so the team can address issues spotted in Japan and bring forward work that was originally slated for later in the season.

What's next:

  • Miami data will guide the timing of the next two upgrades, with a further large update planned before the summer shutdown.
  • Permane admits a podium is unlikely this year, but expects the squad to cement its place among the top midfield and push for higher points finishes.
